(NEW YORK – Nov. 24, 2025) – MS NOW and Rachel Maddow today announced the launch of an all-new MS NOW Original podcast, “Rachel Maddow Presents: Burn Order,” a six-part series that exposes the extraordinary chain of events behind the U.S. government’s decision at the outset of World War II to incarcerate tens of thousands of immigrants and U.S. citizens solely on the basis of their race.
The series is set to debut Monday, Dec. 1 with the first two episodes, with new episodes dropping weekly every Monday.
Presented through Maddow’s signature storytelling style, “Burn Order” reveals how the policy of rounding up innocent Americans came to be, and the powerful, often hidden players who engineered it. The series shines a light on the government officials who fueled the policy with lies and racial stereotypes, as well as the desperate internal fight to try to stop the plan before it could go into effect.
Listeners will hear first-hand accounts of a community terrorized on the streets, pulled from their homes by the U.S. government and sent to remote, hastily constructed detention camps.
Plus, the clandestine destruction of government records, burned to conceal the illegal basis of the policy – and a bombshell discovery in the unlikeliest of places that would ultimately expose it all. As hastily-constructed mass detention camps are once again being built in America, “Rachel Maddow Presents: Burn Order” tells the explosive story of how the country pledged, in the Reagan era, to never again pursue policies like these.
New episodes of “Burn Order” will drop Mondays on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and wherever listeners get their podcasts. As part of MS NOW Premium, Apple subscribers can receive early access to future episodes each Friday and enjoy ad-free listening plus bonus content.
“Burn Order” is the fifth original podcast and first under MS NOW in Maddow’s expanding multi-platform portfolio, which includes her successful MS NOW primetime show, “The Rachel Maddow Show.” Previous projects include “Bag Man,” which received a duPont-Columbia journalism prize, “Ultra – Season One” which received the Hillman Prize for Journalism, and “Ultra – Season Two,” which received an 2025 Edward R.
