LONDON, NOVEMBER 25, 2025 – CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, today announced three new appointments to its international digital team, all joining the London newsroom this week.
Jack Sommers joins as Head of Digital News for EMEA, overseeing all editorial content for CNBC.com across the Europe and Middle East region, with a focus on business, markets, economics, and technology. He brings nearly two decades of journalism experience, including senior roles at Business Insider – where he served as Senior Editor, Interim UK Lead Editor, and Deputy Editor – and at HuffPost as Assistant News Editor. Sommers holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
Kai Nicol-Schwarz joins as Tech Reporter, covering the fast-moving world of technology across Europe and Middle East and writing CNBC International’s flagship tech newsletter, Beyond the Valley. Nicol-Schwarz joins from Sifted, the Financial Times–backed publication focused on startups and tech in Europe, where he was a Senior Reporter. He graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Lauren Shute joins as Audience Producer, helping shape CNBC’s digital reach by overseeing social platforms, homepage curation, mobile alerts, and vertical video strategy. Shute joins from Sky News, where she worked as a Digital Video Producer. She graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Drama, and obtained a Master’s degree in Film and Television at the University of Birmingham.
